I will also be at the first weekend! The Ann Arbor Film Festival is that weekend and the school lets you book the subsidized hotel for Saturday night as well so I'll have time to see a bit of what the town has going on. I'm excited. I feel committed to Michigan, although I still have 6 applications out and haven't heard back about money form Mich yet.

I'll (probably) be at the first weekend. Not 100% sure since I'm not in the US right now so logistics (and price) will be tough

I didn't realize the Ann Arbor Film Festival was that weekend! I may have to check that out, as well. I requested a hotel room for all 3 nights, and will probably hang around until Sunday afternoon.

Also signed up for the first ASW! Got to admit Michigan wasn't a top choice for me prior to hearing back from them but since then they have really impressed me. I have only heard great things about it (except the winters).

Signed up for the first ASW! Are you all staying at the subsidized hotel, or are you bringing someone?

Sadly won't be going to either ASW because my schedule doesn't allow it but will be doing a solo visit in March and staying with some friends. Hopefully I'll be able to get a good feel from that

Make sure you all go to the SFF Auction Thursday night. Last year, it was one of the most wild things i'd ever experienced. I had a great time!

You can always register and then update your registration. I, too, haven't decided my tagline, but I noticed they mentioned (somewhere) that you could go back in and edit. Just tried it now, and you definitely can.Baby Gaga wrote:I'm signing up for the first weekend, didn't hit submit yet cuz I'm thinking about my tagline

In a pickle:
First michigan ASW overlaps with Duke. Second michigan ASW overlaps with Northwestern.
What would you do? Pick one to visit independently? Try to hit up Ann Arbor and Chicago on the same weekend?

Which do you think you want to go to more? I personally don't like NU like... at all. So that's an easy decision for me, y'know? Also, you can go just on a separate visit that isn't an ASW.Blue664 wrote:In a pickle:

Just got in, so I haven't received any info on AWS.
It seems like the school offers a hotel subsidy. Anything else? Do they offer any stipends for travel?

Checking in for one of my favorite schools after getting admitted yesterday. I can't stop thinking about Michigan! Already bought plane tickets for the first ASW. See y'all in Ann Arbor

PSA: the subsidized hotel rooms for the first ASW are full
I got myself on the waiting list - I'll probably go regardless but it would help me out a lot to save money on the hotel.

What's the difference in cost?
Also highly recommend 2nd ASW if you can wait.
PM if you are having problems.

Re: Michigan Class of 2020
Cost difference depends on what alternate hotel I pick - $20/night vs. ~$70-100. Will also likely be in a less convenient location. Unfortunately can't go to 2nd ASW because it conflicts with NU.nyu2019maybeplease wrote:What's the difference in cost?

Ultimately I'll probably suck it up and pay for it if I need to because Michigan is a top choice for me. Still hoping I get a room off the waitlist! I'm sure some people will change/cancel their registration between now and then.

Re: Michigan Class of 2020
Y'all. I think I'm losing my mind. I had convinced myself that I was 100000% opposed to Michigan @ sticker and now I'm not quite sure/am wondering if I'd be able to negotiate some sort of scholarship out of them.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
