I've always avoided the lounge because it seems pretty misogynistic to me (though I've never investigated in depth to see if that impression is true). I hear there's a pretty cool houseplant thread in there, though.

there are definitely a few misogynistic people and I think some threads are worse than others, but people do tend to be called out for their bs. I also think the women do a pretty good job standing up for each other.

I read this yesterday and I am unfortunately not surprised. Not because this is an internet forum, but more because it reflects exactly how this issue plays out in real life. A lot of sexual assault is between acquaintances and a lot of it is 'murky,' where people can't actually consent and parties don't know that. Ignorance is no excuse, but some people still think that overly inebriated people can consent. This whole thread just proved how far we have to go in terms of educating people about consent, etc.

Obviously that does NOT apply to the creepy general fuckery also mentioned in this thread. Why people gotta be so fucking weird.

That's the first time I've ever been to the Lounge. I think the whole "marriage" talk ITT is creepy enough... Wtf. There are some weird threads in there.

First time I've ever been there, definitely don't plan on going back. This forum is good for the admissions cycle, but I already get enough exposure to the shitty parts of the internet in the rest of my daily life...

The few times I've skimmed the threads in the Lounge, I've had the same impression and it was part of the reason I avoided posting anywhere on this site for awhile. There's enough creepiness one deals with existing as a woman (and, to be fair, a human) in 2016 that the risk of strangers finding you at your office and harassing you (or worse) did not seem worth whatever benefit it may offer to me. Luckily the one person from TLS who I didn't know already who found me in person is not creepy and is actually super nice, but I don't doubt the veracity of any of the stories posted in that thread.

Seriously, how can they kill off Black Canary? They already wrote Roy Harper out and turned Ollie into a depressed, hyper-conservative Batman with a bow. At what point do they admit that the source material means absolutely nothing to them? Green Arrow has been my favorite hero since I was a kid, but this show just makes me sad now.
