does anyone know of a way to find other law students to live off campus with? is the facebook group kind of the only method for this?

I'll PM you.basedvulpes wrote:Nope, not moving with pets. Happy to hear I'm not the only one who has been underwhelmed.Toby Ziegler wrote:I had this same problem. Found a few places that are liveable, but coming from a major east coast city I expected more, and cheaper. If I wasn't moving with a SO I would be giving the LC and Munger a serious look.

Are you looking at places close to campus? If you search further out, you might find cheaper and higher-quality accommodations. Keep in mind that many returning students have by now already secured apartments for the upcoming academic year, so the most desirable ones close to campus are probably taken.basedvulpes wrote:Not an expert by any means, but here's some takeaways from what I saw and heard this weekend:jg61 wrote:Starting mine this week. - Do not take a place without seeing it first
- If you can stomach the exorbitantly priced apartment buildings I would live in one of those. I personally won't be because the prices are ridiculous, but quality is much better than the rest of what I saw
- Look into landlords and property management companies before committing to anything. My SO and I saw an apartment building we liked then googled the owner, to find that he's been called "the worst slumlord of Ann Arbor" and has been charged with assault by several past female tenants
I'm honestly pretty disappointed right now. I was really, really looking forward to Ann Arbor and Michigan, but now I'm really nervous. I keep trying to remind myself that this is all just a tiny bump on the path, but right now it's really consuming my thoughts and emotions.

From what I gathered on my visit anyone that wants student season tickets can get them. Most of the people I talked to didn't get season tickets last year and said it is easy to find single game tickets (especially this year with the MSU and OSU games on the road). If you want to get season tickets, you can order them in small groups with your friends so your seats are together. I think they run $200. As far as when/how to get them, I have no idea.jewkidontheblock wrote:Anyone know the deal with getting football tickets?

Incoming students are usually able to buy football season tickets sometime in the summer (according to the official website, it'll be in June). As it gets closer to then, you should get an e-mail from the athletic department with ordering instructions. You can find more information at: http://www.mgoblue.com/tickets/students-index.html.

Don't look into buying auto insurance. That won't help.16to19 wrote:Someone get me stoked here.

I did! For some reason I thought it didn't need to be signed until later, but I guess it's due fairly soon. I wanted to check out floor plans and try to get an idea of where everything is located. Any idea where to find that? I didn't see it on the website.jewkidontheblock wrote:Anyone else get their LC lease?

I want to know how good is the internet, and what are the quality of the washers and dryers. They better not be coin operated.

Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019
One thing I just noticed on the Lawyers Club contract was the cancellation/withdrawal fee if you withdraw after July 31, 2016 unless an appropriate sublet could be found, which is about $9,360. Does anyone know how difficult this is to do? I feel like it shouldn't be impossible, but I have nothing confirming either way.
(ETA: not that I'm planning to do this or anything, but contracts always make me anxious to understand all of the details before signing.)

The internet is Gigabit, and will be at least 400mbps up/down during heavy traffic hours (using ethernet, wireless is good too). The washers/dryers are standard quality and are either coin or student account-credit operated.Li'l Sebastian wrote:I want to know how good is the internet, and what are the quality of the washers and dryers. Per the tour I took, the rooms (Even within each pricing tier, deluxe, regualr private, semi private) vary moderately in size and layout. Allegedly, if you have a preference for a side of the building (Want something quieter, etc) and you call the woman who runs it, she may be able to help.
