Top Law Schools

I thought this thread would be useful for 0'Ls to discuss their plans before law school.

Are you working? Reading? Travelling?

That is a really good question. I am trying to figure this out. I am a teacher now, so I will be paid to do nothing until September. I am trying to decide between just relaxing, working to offset living expenses in the fall, or trying to get any legal experience I can. Will definitely be working on typing speed. I am interested in other people's thoughts and plans.

Definitely working. I'd like to be lazy or travel etc. but work will send me to school with an extra $10k+ in savings.

I'm working at a summer camp, making around 3K for books... new apartment expenses... ect.

Chillin. DRINKIN ALL DA TIME. Visit the future school a few times just to look at housing and stuff. But two of my potential choices offer a summer program where I can get a few 1L classes outta the way. So, depending on my choice it could be different, because if I can get some classes outta the way and ease the load of 1L...I'm gonna do it. Plus, it'll be sorta nice being on the campus (both of which are particularly nice) without a ton of people on it in the fall, and being able to work out without 100 other people in the gym. That's a really enticing option for me. If I don't choose either of these two schools I am doing NO prep, and I'm just gonna relax cuz it'll be my last summer as a normal human being until retirement

As a current 1L I can tell you the best thing to do is NOTHING. Relax, maybe read a book you actually enjoy, because things will get more stressful once the first semester starts. Just try to enjoy yourself until classes begin.

Depends on which school I choose to go to. I have a couple options that start in June.

I'm studying for/ taking the patent bar and traveling. I can't fricking wait - it's going to be my first summer vacation since I was 15.

Quitting both of my jobs at the end of June and going to Europe for a month. My undergrad program was year-round, so I'm really REALLY excited for my first summer vacation since high school.

I took this year off to work so I saved up enough to allow me to quit my job in May and basically chill all summer. I just bought an old jeep grand wagoneer I'm fixing up so I plan on working on that thing and driving it to OBX on the reg.

I am starting what is essentially (although not called this) a paid internship at a law firm in January (for 3 days a week while finishing undergrad) then full time for a couple months. Strongly considering quitting fairly early though (i.e., early July) to just relax going into ls, and probably head down to wherever I am going a little early.

Working through June and spending as much of July as I can at the cabin/camping/hanging out with family before I move

Traveling because duh

Retire from the military in April and just going to travel -- moving up to DC in July to enjoy the place for a couple months before first semester starts!

A little work, but a lot of relaxing for once. It's been a hectic few years and law school is more chaos to come so I might as well relax the downtime I do actually have.

It's alright, most people are. (Me too.)

I'm retired, so traveling and doing a bit of volunteer work with Pop Warner Football.
