Good idea to go and meet people but no one will care if you miss any of the orientation stuff. If there's something you were supposed to attend they'll send the recording of it and have you affirm you listened to it.

Good to know, thanks. Any other general orientation tips?

Your goal is to drink enough free alcohol to make that a bargain

Any truth to the rumor that the first day's attire is "business formal"?

*Sorry, by "first day", I actually meant orientation (all of orientation)*

Oh I hadn't heard that rumor. I was planning on dressing rather casually, but I'd be interested to know if business formal during orientation is a thing

Going by the pictures in the orientation emails (assuming those are from past year's orientation), things looks fairly casual. It's also going to be 90+.

I'm wearing khakis and a t-shirt. Worst case, I can go home during lunch and change.

Orientation Everything is casual. Don't overthink this.

lol i feel the same way. Not really sure if I'll go to the SJI thing, but I'll go to everything between "Entering the Legal Profession" and "Sexual Respect Initiatives" as I think those are targeted towards everyone/something they'll likely take attendance at

I thought they were joking when the said they'd take attendance....still figured on going anyway though.

Definitely some panel-fatigue here as well. Yesterday could have been 80% shorter and still been just as useful (ie. not particularly).

lol, there were some bizarre and totally unnecessary Q's thrown out during that panel.

Though I did like when that guy called out the speaker on the past failings of the sexual assault office.

If anyone is interested, found the voicemail that Jeremy Feinberg was talking about during the professionalism panel: http://www.kinsellalaw.com/2004/08/24/a ... -internet/

Never realized how shitty my resume was until I started chatting with my classmates. Good grief at some of these people.

Seems kind've dick-ish for that guy to release the voicemail tho.

Yale undergrad w/ honors is easy. Over 60% of the grades they give out are A-range.

The NGO is cool, I guess, but mostly because they got to go somewhere exotic.

Goldman Sachs alums are a dine a dozen. Most get fired anyway.

Skadden paralegals might talk to partners every now than then. Assuming they're young, the partners don't like them enough for them to matter any more than a 1st year associate.

Whatever is on your resume is fine. The two of you ended up in the same place. In my mind that means they should be trying to figure out how you did it without the mountain of bullshit.

I get that. I don't mean to imply that I'm intimidated academically by these people, it just makes the "so what about you?" questions a little uncomfortable.

Slight adjustment for me.

Yeah, the fact that we're all 1Ls now seems to be a great equalizer, of age, experience, etc, which I don't think was the case as much starting undergrad.

In other news, that fiesta event was pretty awesome yesterday.
