how should amended taxes be reported? if i filed and paid on time originally, but later amended, then i did not pay these late. anyone can amend at any time.
im thinking of just adding a note that i amended but NOT including it on the "failed to timely file or pay" section

This should be fine. As long as you add a note explaining the situation, you will not get into any trouble. No one is looking to exclude any attorneys from admittance because of minor tax issues, the problem would only be if you tried to be deceptive or dishonest in your responses.

Get a copy of that year's tax transcript from the IRS. If they ask you for anything, that's what they'll want to see.
