Semester before Bar
Is it a bad idea if I take a very light semester the spring semester before the bar? Or is that a good idea?

Bar prep blows. Have fun while you can. I lived it up 3L and I’m so glad I did.

It’s not bad that I’m not going to be in a routine of grinding?

I graduated a quarter early and spent a month in Italy before beginning bar prep. I returned to the States the day Themis's program began. That didn't have any effect on my grind, but everyone's different.

Re: Semester before Bar
I took some key classes, like Wills & Trusts and Texas Matrimonial Property, in my last semester to prepare for the bar exam. I am very glad I did. When I got behind in my bar prep, I spent virtually no time on studying those topics since they were “fresh” in my mind. My law school didn’t offer a bar prep class in those days. However, you need to think of your study skills and abilities as well as your previous courses. Did you already take classes to prepare for bar study? If so, you might be able to pull off a light semester. Do you master materials quickly and are you a good test taker? If so, do a fun semester. It’s going to vary from person to person.
