MBE Flashcards

Post by vanessabarstudy » Sat Nov 28, 2020 11:59 pm

Hi - I'd like to purchase some flashcards to help me learn the black letter law, but don't have time to write them out myself. I see good recs for Critical Pass, but I hear they bombard you with information. Is there anything else that you'd recommend? I saw SmartBarPrep had some, but they won't response to a question I had. Thanks

They do provide a ton of info on those cards, but I think that's going to just be the nature of flashcards for this exam. In other words, if another company tries to limit the info the put onto the cards they'll for sure be leaving out essential material you need for the exam. I'd probably go with Critical Pass if you flashcards are a good way for you to learn!

It was my impression also that Critical Pass cards had too much info on the back of each card. The info should be divided into multiple cards, in accord with a principle of learning (see, e.g., "rule" 4 here: https://www.supermemo.com/en/archives19 ... es/20rules). For that reason I'm going with SmartBarPrep's cards. The digital versions are presented by the Brainscape software, which uses SRS -- spaced repetition system. They also provide printable versions, but they're all in one big PDF file. Printing instructions are provided, but it looks like it would be tedious to print all 675 cards.

I second the recommendation for SmartBarPrep‘s cards (and indeed all their materials). They’re true flashcards, unlike Critical Pass.

I used Critical Pass flashcards for the Texas bar exam and I loved them. I would review a deck of cards for one subject and then do a drill of questions. Rinse, repeat, and rotate subjects. If you are taking Barbri, then cards track their materials very nicely.
