NY Bar Exam questions

Hi everyone,
I am planning to take the NY bar exam in July next year and I have enrolled in the Barbri course. In the meantime, I am revising the 1L materials on contract and tort law, and discovered that the Barbri materials include just a few case law. Since in my jurisdiction, our LLB exams require us to put in quite a lot of case law in support of our answers, I am wondering whether it is a problem with Barbri materials or it is in fact not necessary to quote case law in the bar exam (essays in particular) as long as we apply the correct principles.
On the other hand, regarding the negligence law in the US, according to what I have got from the internet, there are foreseeability test and multi-factor test for the establishment of duty of care. I am wondering which test is adopted in New York.
Thank you very much.
