Does character and fitness approval mean anything re passing the bar?

I’ve heard a lot of rumors that most states don’t bother completing the c&f investigation if you failed or didn’t get a certain MBE score.
My c&f was approved today and none of my friends have been approved yet. Someone told me the time they failed their c&f was never completed/approved and the time they did pass, their c&f was approved prior to results.
Does anyone have experience with this or is this just a cruel rumor?

I'd be genuinely surprised if that were the case. In most states I have encountered, your C&F process begins long before the bar itself, and I certainly had questions and an interview before taking the bar.
Given most folk who fail the first time are going to retake, I see no reason why you'd begin that process and not complete it. Of course some states may be totally different, but you didn't name a state.

I can appreciate why you want to read the tea leaves this way, but in most states the C&F process is completely separate from Bar passage.

My C&F was approved before I even TOOK the bar.
That should answer your question.

The two are entirely separate to the best of my knowledge.
