March 2017 MPRE
Does anyone have a score conversion for the Barbri MPRE questions? I feel like i should be ok, but idk how many I should be getting correct on the Barbri sample tests or what number is required to get a passing score. FWIW, my state requires an 85.

I was doing iffy on PTs like 55% right the night before the MPRE..I did all the PTs in the barbri and kaplan book...on the actual thing I got 30+ points over what I needed (also was in a state that needed an 85). Also left feeling like I failed though. A lot of people wing the MPRE so keep that in mind because it's scaled.

Re: March 2017 MPRE
I was told getting 35 out of 60 right should just about get you to a passing score for jurisdictions requiring 85 points
I half-assed a barbri practice test yesterday at got 60% right (which I think was only 34). Plan on doing the other 3 tests they have at some point this week, and lightly skimming the stuff on the website. That should do it, right?

Re: March 2017 MPRE
Doing two practice tests, not even skimming the outline, and only choosing answers that contained language that resembled/tracked the language in the model code copped me an 87 on my first try.
I also did the "check yourself" mastery-type questions on Barbri though for the important sections though. Wish I did it for all the sections. More judge questions than I was anticipating.

Yes. I thought Barbri practice tests were pretty spot on, so you probably have a pretty good plan.Hand wrote:I was told getting 35 out of 60 right should just about get you to a passing score for jurisdictions requiring 85 points

I kinda watched the video, read through the outlines and took some practice tests over a week and a half. I'm in a jurisdiction that requires an 86, and I passed with a very comfortable margin.
I had already passed the bar, which is part of the reason I put in much effort at all.

I thought that it was incredibly hard. I only knew like 3 of the questions for sure. The rest i was basically guessing between two answersManOurHouseisGreat wrote:Bump. Did anyone think this was pretty difficult

Same, pretty much. Three days of Barbri prep didn't really cut itTransferDC wrote:I thought that it was incredibly hard. I only knew like 3 of the questions for sure. The rest i was basically guessing between two answersManOurHouseisGreat wrote:Bump. Did anyone think this was pretty difficult

I guessed on most questions and only took one hour to finish but also only spent 3 hrs preparing for this thing so joke's on me if I have to take it again

Re: March 2017 MPRE
I felt like half the questions were pretty straightforward, another 25% were decent guesses, and the rest were total coin flips. I'm guessing most people feel about the same, which is why the cutoff ends up being around 60% right.

Fairly standard. I think reading the model rules and more importantly, comments to the rules helped significantly. Some verbatim.

I thought it was difficult---- I changed at least 4 of my answer... this was my 4th time taking it... there is no hope for me

Screw that test. Hoping it's just neuroticism and go using on a few tough questions/ignoring the easier stuff... but that was harder than anticipated ..

That test was hot garbage. Here's hoping there were about 45 experimental test questions.

Re: March 2017 MPRE
I've read on TLS it's usually around 4 weeks. I also read it's not uncommon to feel like you fail it, but most people end up passing it with ease.RaceJudicata wrote:I read 5 weeks, but idk if it's traditionally on time/early/late.TransferDC wrote:Anyone know when/where they'll be posted?

Re: March 2017 MPRE
I was personally surprised at how different it felt from the Barbri practice tests I took; I felt like the Barbri practice tests were downright easy comparatively. I think I probably passed given what I need, but it really wouldn't surprise me if I end up taking it again.

Re: March 2017 MPRE
if a 3L needs to retake it would be right after bar (obviously, timing sucks), but that shouldn't make a big difference with getting admitted, right?
My state doesn't require mpre to apply for bar, just to get admitted. My last post on this subject. Being neurotic. Finally, beer in hand. Good luck y'all

Re: March 2017 MPRE
I practiced using the Themis MPRE outline, did the practice questions and practice exams, and felt *very* comfortable answering at least half of the questions. For the other half, I easily eliminated two questions, and feel somewhat confident about choosing between the final two choices. And at least a couple of the questions were *very* similar to the ones I had come across while reviewing the Themis practice materials.

I know it makes no difference for CA, and I imagine it'd be the same elsewhere. You'd have your results back by September.RaceJudicata wrote:if a 3L needs to retake it would be right after bar (obviously, timing sucks), but that shouldn't make a big difference with getting admitted, right?

Re: March 2017 MPRE
I took it last year, and it was almost word for word like the barbri practice exams.
I wonder if the examiners got wise and changed up the questions.

This was my 2nd mpre.
It was nothing like the first one. It was sooooooo difficult and some questions were really difficult to follow.
What's up with the general partnership question. Sigh
