I studied for 5 months February to July with old Barbri and PMBR books donated by others in the office. The books are a few years old but I thought the material was still good. Maybe I was wrong. I'm interested to see what my scores were.

When I didn't pass the CBX on my first try, my dad told me "its a disappointment, not a disgrace," and I'll never forget that, because its true even though its a little cliche.

And, when I finally DID pass the second time around -- I damn near had a heart attack of joy.

Failing the first time made me appreciate passing so much more.

I know it sucks, and it sounds like you really put in the effort. But, it sounds like you may have self studied, which is awesome, however I think you will have a much better idea of what and how to study now that you've actually taken the exam.

The first time, I knew I didn't pass the exam, but I knew the exam was PASSABLE, and it gave me an idea of how to study for the next time.

If you want to buy updated books, people should be selling them on the cheap now that results are out. When I passed, I gave all my books away.

Focus on February....its right around the corner.

This life is an unmitigated and repeated series of horrors...a constant example of misery and disappointment guaranteed to frustrate and beat down even the staunchest of spirit. It is a constant reminder that it is often useless to try, effort is not rewarded and preparation and hope are misguided attempts to force order on a chaotic existence of pain and disappointment.
It doesn't matter what you do, good results are a matter of chance and luck not desire and skill.
What is really pissing me off is people have mentioned they didn't even answer some questions....I answered everything, I was actually ready for the secured transaction question. I cant wait to see my score to actually see where I failed.

What? am I suppose to learn something from this shitshow and be happy and a better person because I failed....no. I'm not going to say the right thing or be grateful for just being in the show. None of us are happy for the person that wins the lottery... we are all envious that it wasn't us. I'm gonna pout for a while. I wouldn't have any room to bitch if I didn't take it seriously or didn't study...but I put in the work, I studied for months straight for nothing. Apparently 64-70% of New Mexico test takers are better than me (even skipping some questions)..so be it. I take no solace in the fact that this was New Mexico's lowest scores in years The fact remains I failed. Not the first time, I can honestly say I have failed at other things before but this one....hurts a little more.

You have every right to be upset and angry.....I don't even see it as pouting, it just seems like venting.

As you said, so much of the exam is a lottery -- so you're not a failure at all, and no one is per se "better than you," they were just luckier this time

But, once it passes I hope there is something gained from the experience when you rev up for February.

I studied the first time, but after taking the exam, I had a better idea of how to focus my efforts. You said this isn't your first failure so I don't know if that meant you failed the bar before.

And when you get your pass letter in April -- you can just put it all behind you.

Between this statement and Georgia's accidental failures I have no faith in the marking procedures. Seems like luck of the draw. Where somehow people who skipped entire questions passed and someone who studied hard and did all the questions did not, I think something odd is going on.

For you and everyone else in NM: get out of ABQ, Santa Fe, and Cruces. Hobbs, Farmington, Gallup, and so on have jobs. If you lost your job in one of the 3 big towns, you might struggle to find another if you insist on working in one of those 3. Lots of jobs if you're willing to move.

I took the July 14 bar, and it had an 82% pass rate. In other words, I, and every other attorney, took a totally different bar. Don't let this get in your head, the February bar is just around the corner, and there is bound to be correction in the other direction.

Jesus Christ... I am so sorry to hear that. Were you working for a firm or government? Did you know before today that not passing would result in losing your job on the day results came out?

I can only imagine how upset, angry, and sad you are right now. Take the time to be angry, vent, and let the wounds heal. But do not let this moment define you. The true test of the professional is to saddle up and ride out again after a tough loss.

5th Judicial prosecutors office, and I was given the impression that I would be given another chance. The budget is contingent on oil prices and with the low gas prices there is no room for freeloading clerks without a license.

Did you take a prep course? If so, was your MBE score in line with where you had been testing?

I couldn't afford a prep course but I am saving for Adaptubar right now for Feb. If I failed because of MBE I will do EVERYONE of Adaptibars 1730 questions on line.

To be honest, I would advise doing more in adaptibar. When you complete all 1730 (or specifically, the number in each section) it advises you that the questions will begin repeating. There were still questions that I got wrong when repeating (twice, three or even four times). However, there were many more that forced me to learn the law. I'd recommend at least doing 2,000 if not more.

all the MBE resources you used were pre-civ pro being added to the test. you need to find resources for that part of the test for your retake. good luck to you.

People also rave about the Emmanuel book for mbe questions. You can probably pick up a book on the cheap now that results are coming out.

In fact I think you can probably get a CMR on the cheap for the civ pro stuff. I thought Barbri did a good job of dog pro BLL

I can send you a $50 Adaptibar discount code. PM me when you're ready to sign up for Adaptibar. I found Adaptibar to be very helpful, but I'd recommend finding civ pro questions from another source (Adaptibar only has 200 civ pro questions, and they're just average).

Are you a minority? There is a conspiracy theory that the NCBE takes into account your NCBE profile such as Race/LSAT Score/Undergrad when grading your exam.
