Anyways, a .4 point increase isn't a substantial increase by any means.

This was probably due to my 185 MBE score.

I agree but the article also stated that 22 states saw increases in their MBE scores, 26 saw decreases in scores and 2 remained the same.

I kind of wish there was a way to find out our MBE scores. Seems crazy that half the test was probably finished long ago, but the other half takes so long that we still have almost a two-month wait. On the other hand, I probably wouldn't want to know my score if it were below 135 or 130. The stress would ratchet up about 10 notches.

Results are trickling in...I'm not ready ...

Oklahoma is in. Do we know if anyone is keeping a spreadsheet this year with score changes from prep course to real thing?

I spoke to someone who passed in Oklahoma, they said they don't get a score breakdown unless they fail. Same with North Carolina I think. So we haven't had too many MBE score reports yet.

They give you your MBE score, just not the essay portion. You get the MBE no matter what, just not the essays if you pass.

I heard that was the former practice, but their website says everything is graded in the FAQ section. Who knows!

This is a myth.

That 140 average is scaled, correct? I still don't really understand how a curved test has a changing mean, but it doesn't really matter.

I was extremely worried that the MBE scores would continue to decline given the continuing decline in LSAT scores. Why? My understanding is that when MBE scores on average drop, then it signals to the NCBE that the pool of examiners are less qualified than previous pools and thus the graded curve is not as generous. Example: In 2011, a test taker who had a raw score of 130/190 would have received a graded score of 140-145. For 2016 February, the mean MBE score was the lowest in like 33 years. As a result, the same 130/190 would have resulted in a graded score of 138-142.

Lower MBE mean scores will generally mean it will be more difficult to pass.

Separately, I've heard that some states like NY don't even read all your essays. They read 2-3. Who really knows. They may not even read your essays if you meet a minimum MBE score cut-off. I wonder if they even look at your NCBE profile and partially take that information into account.
