MBE July 16' reaction (part 2 - do not discuss actual exam questions)

by TLS Moderators
The
original MBE July 16' reaction thread was locked and lots of posts were removed because people were discussing actual exam questions. This is part 2 of the MBE July 16' reaction thread. The plan is to ban people who discuss actual exam questions.

anyone have a link to that google doc floating around re: TLS users actual MBE scores and prep test simulated day score? Was the general consensus that we may get the same or higher than that score? I am counting on it. :>

I think this is the link you're looking for, which also shows the spread between BarBri/Kaplan/Refresher v. final score. It looks like for most people there is, indeed, a nice bump in scores!

The Barbri refresher was a waste of time. Almost completely useless.

So what is the point of having so many questions on minutiae? If felt like so many were on the level of research projects you would assign to an intern to keep them busy for a day. Are they trying to reward good guessing?

I imagine part of it is needing to come up with 200 questions that have right answers.

To whoever compiled this sheet: Thank you so, so much. It's especially helpful to be able to read everyone's initial reactions after taking the MBE, as compared to their success with regards to the final outcome!

Not a copyright guy, but what is the theory that NCBE has IP rights that extend to discussions about their exam questions?

I think this is a good point. Are Harry Potter fans not allowed to talk about the book online after reading it?

Yeah but no one is a fan of the bar exam so this argument has no merit
Sorry I had to checkmate you so hard bro

The exam questions are their intellectual property, and whether they have a good legal basis for restricting discussion, I don't know, but you affirm when you take the test that you won't discuss the questions elsewhere. Same as with the LSAT. TLS doesn't care one way or another, we just don't want to deal with NCBE cease-and-desist letters.

I could see the distinction being that by discussing them on an internet message board you are basically re-publishing the questions....and the answers.
If you and your friends are just discussing it, its not really the same thing.

But in this case, people are discussing specific questions and specific answers. You can discuss the Harry Potter book online, but you can't legally just re-print an entire chapter of the book without permission. You probably aren't even be allowed to commit a chapter to memory and recite it without permission.

It's just a way for the NCBE to screw with us. They're dirty fighters. They deliberately play these games because they only want a fixed percentage of people to pass the Bar. And the more times you take the Bar, the more money for them. It's like the slot machines in Las Vegas.
On practically every other standardized exam, they release the questions afterwards, not 20 years later like the NCBE. This is utter bullshit.

Contract of adhesion my friend. Absolutely no bargaining power on the test taker's side, and if you don't agree, you can never practice despite spending $200,000 on education. Utter and epic bullshit, me thinks.

I took the pa bar and had form #7 . Personally, I do not believe that the bar examers heavily favor one or two answer choices for the Mbe . With that being said, I did have strings of B's and D's for the pm session, but I had a lot of A's and C's for the am session. Any thoughts?
