Barbri and the UBE

Took the UBE using Barbri and I am certain that I failed. :(

I was confident leading up to the test after having scored a 141/200 on the "midterm" (falling in the 80th percentile) and averaging 18-20/25 and 14/18, but am certain that I failed that exam. Way too much guessing and just poor reasoning for the answers I chose.

More importantly, the essays were a major cluster. Barbri had literally one paragraph on LLC's and I felt like all the practice essays were easier or completely different than the real deal.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on how to study differently for round two AND how to tell my Boss if I do end up failing?

Sorry for dramatics, maybe I meant more "advice for how to tell them if I do Fail?"

Don't put the cart before the horse.

Barbri did a terrible job preparing its students for this test. However, just by sheer numbers of Barbri's program, there were soooooooo many poorly-prepared examinees.

The good news is it sounds like you were well above the curve during your Barbri studies so I think the smart money's on you doing well enough to pass. If you're hitting 70+% of Barbri's questions raw, then you're a skilled enough test taker to have passed this exam.

I mean, if others were doing poorly on the materials that Barbri did prepare them for, how well do you think they'd do on stuff they weren't prepared for?

The curve sucks in law school but is a blessing for the bar exam :D

The MBE is not curved.

It's equated based on recycled questions. In theory--at least by my understanding--everyone could have killed it or failed it.

If it was curved, pass rated would stay the same, right? Instead, they change every examination.

Correct, the MBE is not curved. But take solace in as recently as 2013 the scale added 21 points the raw score. That may save your ass if it is as hard as people say it is.

Or the NCBE is finally deciding to get serious with this and limit admissions substantially in which case you and a lot of others may be screwed.

Just wait and try to relax. I took Barbri and the UBE and did not feel good (at all) after walking out of the exam. In the end, I passed.

You're gonna give yourself an ulcer.

As to the original question about what/how do I tell my boss, that should probably go in the employment forum (and after results come out).

It's curved but not like law school. The curve is computed ahead of time.

Because the curve in February would otherwise be so much easier if you were only curved against chronic repeaters.

Dumbest comment ever. Trolling to make people who did well in prep feel like they are doomed. You get what you deserve.
