I know everyone's in freak out mode, but I just want some advice on what I should do going forward.

My practice scores on the Barbri multiple choice problems are atrocious, lingering somewhere around 50% correct on average. I'm nowhere near averaging the 67% correct or whatever they say to aim for.

So, should I (a) just keep doing practice problems and have faith that I will get better, or (b) use something else like Adaptibar, which I've heard is more realistic to the actual MBE, or (c) something else?

Sorry for the post, but Barbri has successfully made me feel like the most incompetent person on the face of the planet. Would love some advice. Thanks!

Where do they say 67%? I would get adaptibar if I were you. And maybe Barbri is not working for you.

edit: I wouldn't be discouraged too much by later Barbri sets as long as you hit the targets in the early ones. I think they are just trying to teach you nuances with those sets and put in questions for stuff that's not where in their materials. E.g. I just learned about a "commercial ventures" case from con law and I hadn't seen this specific ruling or term anywhere, not even in my other bar materials. I'm not pissed at myself for missing this point. I think the question is; are you getting wrong questions on stuff you should know by now?

I'm barely breaking the target scores and just got a 2 on the recent MPT that I felt very confident about.That said, I have been using Adaptibar and I really like it. It gives great explanations and targets where you need the most work. (and, FWIW, my scores are higher on Adaptibar and I will endorse anything that puts my mind at ease in the slightest).

But yes - following my failing MPT, today was the first real, full meltdown day that has sufficiently convinced me I will not pass this exam. Thank you, barbri.

agreed -- Barbri may have an agenda and those are not particularly real questions. AdaptiBar isn't on a mission to scare you, and the MBE questions are real so you may get more of an accurate accounting of where you're at. Or maybe do some Emmanuel question sets, or Bar Max (I haven't used either of these, but I've heard they offer real MBE questions and are cheaper)

There were some Barbri sets I did poorly on, and I BARELY hit the mark for the full day MBE's (I think I got like 118 out of 200?), but I think I ended up getting a 152 on the MBE portion of the exam the first time around, which was just fine. I was just horrible at essays.

Just keep working away, look up stuff you don't know, write down rules you miss.

And -- if you're like others on this board....take a day off to rest/recharge if you haven't. Its possible that your brain is just tired if you're hitting your studies non-stop.

sure, generally on the MPQ sets I am either *Just* hitting target in my relatively stronger subjects, and generally right about 45-50% on others (with the exception of some excruciating property sets where i was nearly 35-40% but trying really hard to pretend those didn't happen).

On Adaptibar, however, I've done about 600 questions and am sitting at about 65%-70% in every subject except CivPro (by contrast - scoring highest around 70% on Barbri's CivPro questions). I have an overall average of 65.5% right now, and they say you get to 70% to feel safe so I still obviously have to improve on Adaptibar as well. Hope that helps! (I sure hope its more predictive than Barbri...) can't wait till this nightmare is over.

My advice is to stop doing practice questions for a bit and learn the BLL. Go sub topic by sub topic. Memorize rules and exceptions. You need to learn the law to perform well on practice questions.

I feel like BarBri's grading of the MPT was total BS. I compared the comments to the essay I turned in before and a lot of them were identical. Also, some of the stuff wasn't even applicable -- the reviewer recommended that I review BarBri outlines to nail down the black letter law...for the MPT??? The whole point of the MPT is that all the information you need to know is within the file and library.

I've used barbri in the past, and I'm using Adaptibar how (I'm taking my 3rd state this summer). I much prefer adaptibar, which shows me the subtopics I'm weak in and timing stats. If you PM with your email address, I can send you a $50 adaptibar discount.

67% comes from the Barbri MPQ book.
