Spoilers on GOT episode 9

So, I'm watching the battle scene in this episode, and it strikes me that when you're studying for the bar exam its probably best to be like Jon Snow.

He is in the middle of battle with Roose Bolton, who has twice the number of men he has.

But, when he is fighting he doesn't focus on the fact that there are 6000 men against him, opposed to the 1500 he has. He doesn't think about the men dying around him. He doesn't think he about the fact that if he gets captured, the Boltons will flay him. He doesn't think about all the men he is responsible for.

All he thinks about is killing the man in front of him, and then about killing the next man in front of him, and then killing the next man in front of him. Getting through his battle one man at a time. Thats how studying for the bar exam is. You just have to slay the task directly in front of you, then slay the next task, then the next one. Know that there is an entire army out there you have to beat, but just focus on beating the guy in front of you. Because if you keep thinking about the army, you'll freak out.

Ramsay, not Roose. Roose Bolton died a few episodes ago.

I generally agree with your statement. Like most difficult things, the bar exam (and prep) is much more bearable if you think of it as small chunks and focus on getting those small chunks down.

What's the parallel to charging into a battlefield and nearly getting killed?

I thought I explained it pretty clearly. But, if you don't get it, you should ignore it and do whatever works best for you. I already know what worked for me

Even though the title of the thread makes it clear that it is about an approach to studying, not an approach to exam taking.

But if that's what you got from what I wrote, you may be better off waiting for a family member on exam day than trying to take the bar exam on your own.

So basically zero preparation and charge headlong in?

Obsessing, or talking about? Obsessing, or making a comparison to? Overstating in order to be snarky isn't really as witty as you think.

You should outgrow that by junior high....but I'm sure those were your best years so you're trying to stick with what worked for you.

Either way, if you can't understand something as simple as what I wrote, then reading comprehension is probably an issue you'll want to work on before the bar exam.

And I didn't even make a simile, metaphor, or comparison in giving you that advice, because I understand those things really, really confuse you.
