Same here! I called the Board of Bar Examiners as well. The man told me he doesn't know when the maintenance would finish and whether there would be any extention for the registration deadline. Just hope they will fix the system tomorrow.

NOTICES:

The New York Law Course (NYLC) is currently offline due to technical issues with our service provider. The Board is aware that many applicants have been attempting to complete the NYLC before the February 11th deadline to register for the March 2020 NYLE. This deadline will be extended after the NYLC is back online. We are working to get the NYLC back online as soon as possible. Unfortunately we do not currently have an estimated time when the NYLC will be back online. We apologize for the inconvenience and we greatly appreciate your patience. Wae will update this page as more information becomes available.

Back up and running, albeit pretty slow. Was able to finish my last 22 minutes and register for the exam for March. Good luck everyone!

Are there any other practice questions besides the ones on the NYBOLE website? (for NYLE exam)

Just to settle this debate: ALL the answers were in the outline. I can't for the life of me understand why so many people in this thread advised us to also do the videos and take notes etc. I mean, obviously it's compulsory to watch them, but screw everyone who said they were necessary to pass this thing. In fact, even if there were some answers contained solely in the NYLC, who cares. You only need 30/50 to pass the NYLE. most, if not all, the questions are verbatim lifted answered in outline. (Having said that, there were def some tricky ones that I just had to guess, and in fact some answers are not "verbatim" from the outline - there is some analysis/synthesis involved, so it shouldn't be taken lightly). But again, so long as you're across the outline and able to navigate it quickly, you're golden.

I did the NYLC back in November and couldn't be fucked doing it again, so the outline was my sole resource.

(Then again, I don't have my results yet so I may have spoken too soon! :? )
Yes, I'd like to double-confirm for future testtakers that the answer to every single question can be found in the outline.

It helps to read through the materials before taking the exam because the correct answer is sometimes embedded within a wall of text. And if you see a concept, you'll be able to say, "oh, I remember seeing that at the end/beginning of the CivPro/Contracts section, etc."

That said, it takes about 10 hours to read the outline, which isn't the best use of time when you're studying for the bar. Also, I very leisurely searched my outline during the NYLE, and even then I was able to finish in 1.5 hours. (In law school, OTOH, you know that you're in trouble if you're flipping through your outline during an exam.)
Reemphasizing this in 2020. IMO, it's enough to just do a full read through of the outline a day before the exam. I had an easy time flipping through the outline during the exam, but only because I was already familiar with the content.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am about to take NYLE for the fourth time and MpRE the second time in the coming August. I'm a non-USA educated legal professional too and am looking to start a LLM Course in the US after passing the Bar.

Hi Folks!

I wanted to share my personal experience in NYLE and MPRE. I am an attorney at law in another country. I got my LLM here in the USA.

I took NYLE and MPRE twice since I failed in the first try.

For NYLE; it is open book exam. You just need to know where to look in the exam. It is around 150 pages of material. If you fail, you need to watch one more time. ( I watched which was not fun at all) Why did I fail in the first one? I think I was not well prepared; I did not know the places I can find the answers. At that time I was studying for the UBE (MBE, MEE, MPT). I think it is not a good idea to take while you are focusing on the actual bar exam. It is just time-consuming and stressful. If I had a chance one more time, I would take September NYLE rather than June NYLE. The reason is that they release the results earlier than the UBE. So you do not waste your time. And after the bar exam, you will have plenty of time to watch the videos and study from the outline. If you compare it with UBE, it is a very easy exam. The NYLE questions are totally different from the practice questions they provided on the website. There are many practical questions in the actual exam. You can figure out from the outline, but it takes time. I personally skipped the questions that require some math. You need 30 correct answers (I got 26 correct in the first try:D); so arrange your time accordingly. There were some easy peasy questions at the end. If you spent so much time on one question, you may not be able to see the easy questions. You may need to read the whole small section to figure out the answers because they may ask some exceptions.

For MPRE, I failed in my first try (My score was 75 I guess). People around me were telling "ohhh, it is so easy exam, you need to study only for 2 days. I haven't seen anyone failed." Unfortunately, I believed these rumors. I did not take it seriously and I failed. For the second MPRE; I took it seriously; over-prepared. My score was 103 which is relatively high but not the best of course.

Do not freak out, everything will be fine. I failed twice in both exams. Every time I failed, I learned more about US law. It was an opportunity for me as a foreign attorney to understand the material deeply.

You may think I am stupid. I am not very smart but I try my hard to achieve my goals.

I sped of my videos, was audited, and had to do the whole thing over again.

Hey there, so you were audited, did you receive notice of charges, did you hire a counsel or dealt with the problem by yourself ? did they report to the F&C Committee?? Share your experience, pls.

And which state was that??

Or if some one else had the same experience with NYLE , meaning sped up the videos and received notice of charges, pls share experience or DM.

Thank you in advance.
Hi, could you let me know what was the outcome? Many thanks!

That is expressly not allowed.
You also do not need it. I read through the material, labeled it, had the table of contents in a different folder to avoid losing time when looking for the answers, and browsed through it the day of the test.
That was more than enough to pass.
Honestly, the most annoying part of this exam was that the test program kept freezing up on my computer.

Hi! Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Could you please tell me some details about your verified answer? Or is there any advice of writing it? I want to know how to write it so that the board would let me watch videos again, not simply bar me from NY Bar.

I have the same problem. Is there a solution? The registration deadline for the NYLE is Tuesday. Appreciate any help on this.

Hey, does anyone know if you can make an electronic summary of the NYLC materials? Like my own outline which is ctrlf searchable or is that also not allowed?

I don't know if that's technically against the rules, but it's totally unnecessary. Just print and tab the outline like everyone else. This is an extremely easy exam.
