So my Dad passed the NJ and NY bar exams back in the 80's. He's wondering now if his NY bar passage entitles him to "pass" or be determined to "have passed" the uniform bar exam in NY. Essentially, he wants to move to South Carolina, which just recently adopted the UBE. SC does not allow reciprocity from any jurisdiction (but of course now does because of the UBE).

I don't know how confusing that question is so please just ask if you need clarification. Thanks.

He took the NY bar before NY adopted the UBE? He doesn't have a UBE score and therefore he has nothing to transfer to a UBE jurisdiction.

Also, UBE states have an age limit on accepting UBE scores. South Carolina does not appear to have set its limit yet, but the oldest score any UBE state will accept is five years old. http://www.ncbex.org/pubs/bar-admission ... .html#p=44
