Re: NY Bar Feb Exam: Support Group
I have been waiting for ages to post this : I passed.
Got a 127 on the MBE (121 last Time ) so i didnt really improve my MBE. I just killed the essays.
I have done about 3000 questions but I guess im just bad at this test. However I knew i was shitty at the MBE so i really studied very hard the essays and outlined 80 essays from my prep book and i wrote 10/15 full essays.
I am so damn happy. It is 10:25 here in Europe. Best day of Work ever.
I am also super happy reading that d sat, zork, nyfailedjuly 2015 and NY sea passed it is so good. And also everyone else but i have troubles remembering everyone nicknames ! All the regular seem to have passed which makes my day better

Re: NY Bar Feb Exam: Support Group
Retaker here: failed by 2pts, 130.9 MBE. Spent 95% of my revision this time around focusing on MBE, which only increased by 11pts.
Feel like I am starting all over again with UBE!! Has anyone here taken the UBE in another state?
Big congratulations to all those who passed, very well done. Hopefully I will be in your shoes In October (that's if I decide to give it another shot)

Hi all-
I haven't posted on TLS in a while, but I have been following this thread closely. The camaraderie on this thread and the prep thread was very motivating. I was rooting for everyone.
I am a second-timer and failing the first time was so demoralizing, yet humbling experience. To those that didn't pass this time around, I have been there. Take the time you need to rest and get your mind right. You'll crush it next time!
1st time (July 2015)
609
MBE:131
2nd time (Feb 2016)
Passed
MBE:140

Passed 144.9 MBE, first time! Congratulations to everyone who passed, and if you failed, just know you're not alone and you will do better next time.
I just made this account to ask if the NY bar ever releases essay or MPT scores, or will we only ever know the MBE? I thought I did well on the writing portions of the test and it would be nice to have it confirmed.

NJ taker here, patiently waiting for our results. I just wanted to pop in and say Congratulations to all of you who passed. To those who were not successful, stay focused and do not feel dejected. Shake it off and know that you will pass next time around.

Re: NY Bar Feb Exam: Support Group
Passed with 130+ MBE score, which probably means I did a little better at essays than I thought. I literally felt like crap after day 1 due to my poor performance on essay 5 and MPT. But this website has been really helpfull to get me through. Congratulations to all who passed the last New York Bar exam and good luck to those who are taking in July.

Pretty sure they do not release that information to those who pass; only to those who fail. I believe they release the MBE score for all takers so that those who pass can determine whether they want to transfer their score or retake the MBE in another jurisdiction.harris11 wrote:I just made this account to ask if the NY bar ever releases essay or MPT scores, or will we only ever know the MBE? I am so sorry... I'm sure you will crush it next time. I know this feeling all too well, but don't give up... I will tell you that the feeling of passing after previously failing is incredible. I want so badly for you to have that feeling.udonisandtrinity wrote:Failed. 138.1 MBE.
I'm so sorry to hear that... But on the other hand, if you spent 95% on MBE and still got such great essay scores then you have a great memory. You're going to absolutely demolish the UBE!! Thanks NY_Sea....the fact I spent most of my time on the MBE suggests I really suck at it! lol I do worry as it will now account for 50% so I have a few months to "work work work work work" on it.NY_Sea wrote:I am so sorry... Failed the second time. 123.9 MBE (from 105 in 2010). Debating whether to take the July exam. On the other hand, CONGRATULATIONS to all who passed! Cheers!

You're going to kill it... I know it. In fact, this time around I felt that your mental state through the whole preparation process is really just crucial. I'm the type of person who gets down on myself easily, so it's hard, but you really need to keep a positive (and frankly, realistic) outlook. Don't let one bad question set throw you, because at the end of the day, it's just another opportunity to learn more and make sure it doesn't trip you up when it counts.Nevergiveup15 wrote:Thanks NY_Sea....the fact I spent most of my time on the MBE suggests I really suck at it! lol I do worry as it will now account for 50% so I have a few months to "work work work work work" on it.NY_Sea wrote:I am so sorry... Second time taker: PASSED!
I scored 138.9, the same exact score as my first time. I guess I killed the essays. My advice to anyone signed up to take the July 2016, focus on the past essays on BOLE website

It's been a crap day having to tell my friends, family and colleagues I failed yet again! Everyone is so gutted. I am a foreign lawyer based in the UK (for an American bank) and all the American lawyers here have been incredibly supportive as they have all been through it.
Will definitely drop you a PM once I get over this pain and back in the swing of things as I need an action plan to conquer the MBE once and for all!!
Enjoy your celebrations for all those who passed. And those in the same boat as me...we will make it to the shore..one day
