Re: Texas Saloon- Feb. 2016 Texas Bar
After I finally escaped Palmer I went to eat.
The guy asked me how my day was and I said "Okay but I'm taking the bar so that's not fun." He replied with "It's so windy that the umbrella on the patio outside came down and nearly hit a car!"
No segue, no transition. Nuthin'. Just a story about a flying umbrella.

So would that make Palmer liable for the damages, being that we are business invitees of the Texas Board of Law Examiners?jamescastle wrote:After I finally escaped Palmer I went to eat.

I am pretty sure at some point we probably released Palmer and the BLE from liability from flying umbrellas, although I thought the umbrella thing happened elsewhere where the person was eating.
So far my worst complaints were needing to pee and simultaneous thirst. So I figure that's on track for Day 1. Personally, I was rooting for the pee-ers with steely balls and boobs. They peed for the rest of us too risk adverse to move.

The MPT is only 10% of your total score. There are a ton of points still up for grabs tomorrow and Thursday. You got this!yosi wrote:Did not finish MPT

Don't feel bad. The ending of the MPT really snuck up on me. I was rushing like crazy that last 15 minutes. Tomorrow and Thursday are what determines if you'll passyosi wrote:Did not finish MPT

I think I had just started talking about Doyle when they called 15 minutes. That was a shit in the pants moment.DueProcessDoWheelies wrote:Don't feel bad. The ending of the MPT really snuck up on me. Holy shit me too! Like that's EXACTLY how it went for me. After that I was asking myself why it took so long to write the stuff before that. i started writing at 45 minutes.longhornlaw wrote:I think I had just started talking about Doyle when they called 15 minutes. Definitely ran out of time on the MPT. Sucks because it was a pretty straightforward assignment. Just not enough time to get everything down.

Re: Texas Saloon- Feb. 2016 Texas Bar
Disagree with the "MBE/essays decide if you pass" since had I just done average on the Day 1 stuff in July I would have passed easily despite doing below average on the MBE and the essays overall.
(I had time to re-read my answer in July. This time I didn't. Hopefully frantically writing until time was called means I noticed more stuff and had better fact presentation, etc. this time around.)
But anyway: for public policy I just said "see handling in ...." because I was running out of time and I wanted to get my conclusion done instead. Did have my own crazy moment when I had presented everything and said it was more likely Way X would hold and then decided to write my last sentence completely opposite that and say Way Y would most likely be the outcome. Thankfully caught it with <1 minute to go lmao.
There was a ton of stuff to discuss there. Also didn't hit the Doyle factors until close to the 15 minute mark. Also tricky tricky I thought how the cases were 2007 and THEN 2003 as I had been taught to read them in chronological order. Thankfully it didn't mess up too much because of how the 2003 one was written but still.

Weird how everyone seemed crunched for time on this one. I got really nervous toward the end because I was typing so fast to ensure I finished in time. Somewhat worried I came off as sloppy because of it. Didn't have time to reread my answer. Had to type a short concluding paragraph and be done with it.

Re: Texas Saloon- Feb. 2016 Texas Bar
For what it's worth to people freaking out about the MPT, I am absolutely atrocious at the MPT. Like, it's not even a joke. The first time I took the TX bar my MPT score was in the 3%. I'm just too slow and my brain cannot function trying to do a task like that in such constricted time circumstances. If it were a life or death situation, I would die. However, when I took it the second time I approached studying with the attitude of "Ok, I know I'm going to bomb the MPT. That's a given. But it's only 10% of my grade. So that's still 90% of the points up for grabs." I didn't even try to get better at it because I knew it would be a waste of my study time. So I studied smarter and applied that energy towards doing better on everything else. I passed the second time with a 712. I don't know what my MPT score was the second time because they don't tell you that if you pass, but I imagine it wasn't much better than the first time. So, I guess I'm just trying to say, the MPT doesn't have to make or break you. I essentially got little to no credit for it and still passed. There is hope.

Thanks Cave. i'm encouraged. Scoring half the points [possibly doing half of the analysis, but getting everything else correct] is mathematically equivalent to 4 or 5 more correct scaled MBE questions. 8-10 minutes of MBE questions vs 45 minutes of MPT agony. Its better to perfect some obscure water district voting rights, a weird FRE Best Evid fact pattern, a collateral order doctrine fact pattern or SJ motions MBE question than to agonize over MPT.

How are results sent? Are they mailed or emailed? In Michigan they are mailed.

They post the pass list on the BLE website, and also you can check on your BLE account and there is a copy of your pass letter when they release the results. They also mail a hard copy of the pass letter.

A girl in front of me walked in at 8:30 and still needed to download examsoft. That was...interesting.longhornlaw wrote:Feeling pretty good after day 1...I had a little melt down last night.
Also, shoutout to that great Texas weather dropping 20 degrees during the exam.
Anybody have anything fun go on around them? Two dudes behind me didn't know it was assigned seating and just plunked themselves down. The proctors weren't happy.

So they don't give you a heads up so you can come to terms with it before everyone else finds out? That is brutal. Thanks for answering.

Yes. Literally everyone in the world can google it to see if you passed, even before you if you're not quick enough on the refresh button on the BLE website. It's brutal.Armywife wrote:caveman2 wrote:They post the pass list on the BLE website, and also you can check on your BLE account and there is a copy of your pass letter when they release the results.
