What'd you pay for your bar prep course? What discount did you get?

I know these companies all have various deals, $100 off at one school, $200 at another...it'd be nice to pool info to know what the real deals are.

So, how much did you pay, for what state, what company, and what discount did they offer?

Kaplan - California - Cost: apx. $3K (not 100% sure, as employer paid for it). Right now you can get their on-demand course (as opposed to in-person) for $1,895. I think the deal expires soon, though. I'd give them 3.5/5 stars, docking them for their CA materials (particular the lecturers and one-notes, but the outlines were good) and crappy essay grading. MBE materials and subject areas were mostly great.

BARBRI for Virginia.

I paid $2,685 after receiving the $1,500 public interest discount.

The discount varies based on the cost of your specific state course.

Haven't paid. In California.

Looking at themis for 1195 (public interest discount). Researched it quite a bit on TLS. Anyone have any very negative experiences? Seems to be decent reviews.

I paid about 2k for a Texas bar summer course last year. I locked in my price 1L year then got a "scholarship" (aka discount) of nearly a thousand dollars after some haggling with the Barbri rep. I wish I had waited until after the payment deadline so I could have gotten a bit more off the price. You have to be hard on your bar prep negotiations.

I paid $1400 for barbri (not including the book deposit). I had signed up during 1L year and got the rate lock, or whatever they offered. Then in late december they offered their "early decision" program and they offered an additional $850 discount.

Just to add, I paid about $1500 for Barbri in California. This was a special rate for those with "public interest" jobs, although their definition of that term was rather loose.

Themis for Texas. Paid $600. Themis donated 5 bar course certificates for Georgetown's public interest auction and I won mine for $600.

Related but when did you guys sign up for bar prep course? I'm in 3L now and not sure when I have to commit, esp. b/c employer is (theoretically) going to pay for it.

I recommend this approach, I waited until my school had their public interest law foundation silent auction and got Themis in Ohio for $495. I know people who at the same event got a $1000 Barbri coupon for $200 so I'd check these events out no matter what course you choose.
