Read it for yourself...

Not 100% approved yet but seems inevitable.

As someone with vague plans to take the CA bar exam sometime in the semi-distant future, this is great. So MBE would weighted 50%, if I understand? That'd be doubly great.

It appears that way. 50% MBE is huge - in a good way. The future classes are too lucky, IMO.

From what I read in their prior meeting agenda/minutes - that even though the test will be shorter in length that students should not mistakenly believe the test will become easier. FWIW. Sounds like they might make the essays harder or do something to counter balance the shorter test.

it seems like they're getting as close to adoping the UBE as they can without just adopting the UBE

I agreed with that. I believe that within 10 years, most states will adopt UBE.

NY's adopting is really a big step for UBE.

Though, it might still be tough for CA test takers, because it seems that CA bar would not budget on the passing grades. 144 might still be required for passing the exam. But perhaps test takers will focus more on MBE in the future, it might help the MBE curve which in turn helps the essay curve.

As in, CA does its own thing without officially adopting what other States do. Like the Rules of Professional Conduct which are based on the ABA Model Rules.
