2L Summer- Light Bar Prep?
I happen to have a lot of free time right now during the summer after my 2L year.
I am curious if I can start reviewing substantive law for the Bar starting now to make good use of this free time that I have?
If so, what do Bar Takers recommend for light reading/studying at this time?
Informative responses will be much appreciated.
Thanks,

(1) Buy Critical Pass Flashcards.
(2) Buy MBE Strategies and Tactics
Take a subject every week. Work 33 problems a day. Solidify your understanding of them. Then do mixed sets.

I would not recommend this at all. I at least would simply have to learn it all over again the following summer, and it's unnecessary.

Studying for the exam seems like a terrible and useless thing, but making sure you have all your ducks in a row for the bar application is never a bad idea. You don't want to get blindsided by some stupid requirement that you need to know all your traffic tickets ever or addresses from 15 years ago.

You could think about signing up for evidence/crim pro/commercial transactions next year. Maybe see if you can sign up for one next semester. IMHO, every law student should take at least evidence.

Re: 2L Summer- Light Bar Prep?
I seriously doubt that's worth the trouble. Like some other posters said, maybe try to decide if there are any classes you can take to prep for the bar. But that being said, don't go taking a bar class you won't use in practice over a practical class just for the sake of the bar.

You could prepare some brief outlines of the bar topics. It would be better to have something that you could refer back to rather than trying to memorize things now that you will likely forget by next year.

Did you make a post 6 years ago about studying for the LSAT after Freshman year of college? That would actually be a better idea than this.

Curious about this only because I've taken the approach that I would rather take seminars and get good grades so the only bar related courses I've taken after 1L are Evidence and Crim Pro. Hoping I'm not screwed for the bar exam because of that.

Doing this would be a terrible idea. You wouldn't remember anything by next summer.
Take the MPRE this August and, during your second semester of next year, maybe take a bar class or two (like wills/estate and corporations or family law). That's the most you need to do.

Just take bar related courses your 3L year. You don't want to burn yourself out before the bar.

Yeah don't burn yourself out. Most of us are already burned out and we've only been studying for a month. Enjoy your summer because you don't get one next year.
Things you can do:
1) Start getting info for your bar application if it's even available yet
2) Sign up for bar classes if you have any left

Re: 2L Summer- Light Bar Prep?
During my last semester of law school, I took a few key bar prep courses (Trusts & Estates, Texas Matrimonial Property (I had earlier taken Family Law)) so when it was time for summer bar study, I had those topics down. I think you should relax and enjoy your 2L summer. You can start gearing up for bar prep during your last semester of law school by going over a subject or two everyday from the Critical Pass MBE flashcards (http://criticalpass.refr.cc/3W6LZL6) and Emanuel's Strategies and Tactics (available on Amazon) in addition to the bar prep classes you've selected to take. However, given the amount of information you need to learn for the bar, starting on bar prep now would be a huge waste of time and might burn you out for later in the game.

....or nah.
Agree with others saying you should get started on your character and fitness app, though.
Also, while this seems kinda personal, I wouldn't bother taking any courses simply because they're tested on the bar exam. Take classes you like/interest you - if there's an overlap or in a ^"tiebreaker" fine, but, you can otherwise learn everything you need to know in 60 days or less.

No way! Anything else you do will be more valuable down the road. Enjoy the summer. You won't get many more of these....
