Moving during crunch time?

My new apartment is going to be available on July 17. Fortunately, it is within an hour of my current home, and I am relatively certain that I can do a basic move (i.e. bring in boxes, reassemble my desk and bed, and unload the necessities) in a morning, as my family has offered to help. Would it be better to go ahead and make the move, or should I wait and try to do the move during the two days after the bar? On one hand, I'll appreciate having the move finished before the exam, but on the other hand I am terrified of taking any time off (especially planned time off).

Wait! You'll need time to settle into your new place.

Moving is SO stressful on its own, I can't really imagine doing that 2 weeks before the bar. You will likely be stressed out and cranky as it is because it's near to the bar without that added stress. I would wait.

I'm moving from Louisiana to New York the day after the bar exam. Flying from Buffalo to NOLA, packing up a truck with my 2bd apartment, shipping my vehicle, and travelling for 4 days with the wifey. save it for after, you'll be glad you did!

The studying for the bar shouldn't be that stressful. More importantly would be the time sink. It depends how ready you are for the bar exam. I took a 3 week vacation that ended 2 weeks before the bar and did fine, but obviously results will vary.

Seems like people are blowing this out of proportion, but what do ya expect from law students

I moved 2.5 weeks ago and my office is only going to be set up on Friday (delay of almost a week for my stuff being delivered, had to arrange furniture, put up shelves for books, etc). I can't imagine doing this in July because I've only been able to do bar prep 5-6 hours a day. I would vote for delaying the move.

Depends on how hard you've been working. If you live in a small place and can get this done without much effort, shouldn't be a problem. I was at burnout central/brain overload that close to the bar anyway, so the studying I was doing wasn't exactly super effective anymore.
