So, according to my PA grading packet that came today, I got a 143 scaled score on the MBE. I don't really understand how that translates to NJ, but I also took NJ -- is 143 a good score and are my chances okay for passing in NJ, as well?

Well, according to the statistics PA posts, your score was above the national average of 141 and under the PA average of 144. So, it's about average.

This also depends on the NJ grading system.
Is NJ out of a total number of points like NY is? Like, I'm pretty sure you can bomb the MBE but make up for that and pass with some really solid essays in NY.
For NJ I've heard that you have to hit a certain threshold for each, and that you can't make up for a low score in one with another. So in your case slightly above the average would probably meet the threshold. I wonder if someone can confirm or disconfirm this?
