Re: University of Oklahoma 2010!
Question for Patrick and other current law students. I saw that Coyne does not allow laptops, how many other profs do not allow laptops? And do you think this was a good or bad move for you, personally, if you had them?

Re: University of Oklahoma 2010!
Exactly half of my professors allowed laptops and half did not. My highest grades last semester came in one class which allowed laptops and one which did not.
The more important question is how each professor tests you. Do they allow outlines for the finals? What's the test format (multiple choice v. essay; take home v. traditional timed)? How many supplements you'll have to use to learn enough for a high grade? Are the tests graded on a curve or merits-based? You get the picture.
Since your professors are set for the first year depending on which section you're in, there's not a lot you can do to avoid certain professors in lieu of others. However, you need to pay very close attention, from the start, to how each professor teaches. Talk to other students who did well in that class previously to find out exactly what works and what doesn't. For as hard as law school is, you can still very easily game the system by knowing what's coming and investing your time/effort accordingly.

Thanks Patrick, it sounds like I may need to be buying you several beers over the next few months, so that I can glean as much info as necessary.patrickd139 wrote:Exactly half of my professors allowed laptops and half did not. You won't get a straight answer to that question. Better to lower your head and do your best in class. More important question: who do you have as your professors?

I have the same stack of classes, though I am in Section 4. I had heard that Coyne would have been a interesting one, kinda sad that I didn't get him. If your numbers were 603, you are actually in section 4, Susan posted it on Facebook. 600 - Section 1washed out wrote:What do you think, Patrick?

601 - Section 2
602 - Section 3
603 - Section 4
So any other section 4's out there?

Patrick, do you know which professors in our sections don't allow laptops? It still blows my mind that it's even an option to not allow students to use laptops.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
