How to title LinkedIn Profile?

Hello everyone,

First time poster! This forum has been very helpful in my application journey and I'm excited to begin law school.

A question I had was about how to properly address my LinkedIn profile's education section . A bunch of people I see put "Doctor of Law, J.D." But it was my understanding that the proper title was "Juris Doctor," and I have seen some people use that indeed. I know it is not the biggest deal, but it was something I was curious about.

So, how do you recommend incoming law students title their education section? Thank you!

You mean the headline? J.D. Candidate at ....

The degree is Doctor of Jurisprudence.

Juris Doctor is fine.

For degree type, just do it as you would a B.A.

So B.A. by itself.

Or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).

By far the most common LinkedIn profile title that law students use (and therefore what you should use) is:

"J.D. Candidate" at [law school name]" or "JD Candidate at [law school name]"

A minority just do "[J.D./JD] Candidate" or "Law Student" or "Law Student at [law school name]"

Since you haven't started yet, just do "Incoming ..."
