2L Summer Internship Forum

I am a 2L at a top 100 good regional school in a large city. I have a 3.09 GPA which is about average. I have 3 years of decent work experience and went to a top undergrad business school. I would like to do meaningful work such as M&A / transactional / commercial litigation at a large to mid size law firm but struck out at OCI.

I believe that I can get my GPA up to a 3.3 by the time I graduate and will write on to Law Review after this semester. Do I have a chance of working in these practices areas for a good law firm either when I graduate or a couple of years after I graduate? Right now I have summer internship interviews for insurance defense firms which isn't exactly what I would like to do but it seems like that may be one of my only options. Also considering doing JAG as well for the military.

Some insight would be much appreciated.
