Law School and finding an apartment

Post by Inhousefuture » Fri Oct 28, 2022 11:41 am

Hello,

For those of you who moved to law school, excluding those who moved into student housing for grad students, how did finding an apartment work:

1. When did you begin looking?

2. Did you pick an apartment remotely or did you fly out to choose one?

3. What was the timeline?

4. How many trips were involved?

Thanks

A lot of this is going to depend on where you go.

If you're going to a school in NYC and you're not originally from here or already living here, then do the on-campus housing 1L year so long as you can afford it. It's such a nightmare to figure it out on your own otherwise.

Agree with Talon above. I would settle in one or two months before classes begin. Look into this, there are resident assistant jobs available. Say you got into X law school, you can move into a dorm at X college and be the RA, which is not that demanding a job. And have a short walk to the law school classes. We hardly ever saw our RA as undergrads. He may have received free room and meal tickets at the dining room. Bathroom and shower are down the hall. Not luxurious but not bad.
