Bar exam prep while working in big law?

Hey guys,

If you have a big law offer after law school, how long generally until you start? So assuming you graduate in May, would you start soon after? (I understand that this start date might vary from firm to firm)

And more importantly, I also was wondering how does one balance Bar exam prep w/ working in big law? It is my understanding that they won't load you up with assignments while prepping. Is that true? How hard is it to balance prep with big law?

I searched for some answers to this question, but I was wondering if I could get some more info on this. I'm just a bit curious to how it all works.

TYIA :)

Most big law firms ask their first-year associates to start in September or October.

I've heard stories of smaller firms where associates were working while studying for the bar, but I've never heard of this happening in big law.

Yea, I don't know of anybody in biglaw, or even midlaw that starts before the bar. There is a good chance you will start before you receive your results though.
