I have a question about transferring - how does transferring up, that is transferring to a school with better prospects, affect your job prospects?

So background for why I'm asking this - I've read a bit about students transferring up - there has been a lot of sour news lately about George Washington (#22) "poaching" students from much lower ranked American. Essentially, GW just accepted students who did very well in 1L at American, and of course charged them sticker. :/ But I've heard that most of your job prospects after law school are tied all around 1L - so can transferring actually hurt you in that regard?

What are the less obvious pro's and con's of transferring?

The less obvious pros and cons are less obvious because transferring is a very personal decision. For example, a lot of people who transfer do so to either go to a market they would prefer to work in, or escape a market/environment they despise at the moment.

It might make more sense to say, if you are thinking about transferring, why you would like to transfer, from where-to-where, and your basis for believing it's a good idea.

It's the OCI and the name on your resume. If you transfer, and timing works out, you get to participate in new school's OCI. And if you don't have a job by graduation, you get new school's name on your degree. These are mentioned numerous times here.
