If you think you've invalidated my advice by referencing a job opening for a temporary research assistant position that is advanced degree preferred, then you're only exposing yourself further as an annoying little shit with a severely impaired ability to digest information.JDJohnP21 wrote:Pancakes3
The Heritage Foundation hires research assistants with just a bachelors.

Definitely not true as a categorical statement like that, though they're certainly not easy jobs to get.pancakes3 wrote:No think tank is going to hire someone with only a bachelor's.

lol if anything HYS grads are so much less qualified to start a law firmkaiser wrote:Is this a serious question? Putting aside the likely lack of knowledge re client development, mechanics of running a firm, how would this fresh-out-of-school grad know the first thing about practicing law? And what about HYS makes you think the grad would be any more capable of starting fresh out of school with his own firm, as compared to a grad of any other school?JDJohnP21 wrote:Would attending HYS make it possible to start a law firm right out of law school?

Sure there is . . . but with more pay, not less. It's called making equity partner.JDJohnP21 wrote:Is it possible to be a lawyer, and still have a good work/life balance? I know that most NYC Biglaw firms have you working 60-80 hours a week. But are there firms where you work 40-60 hours a week with less pay? What are midlaw and small law hours like?

Re: Hours
Federal gov't. You can make close to 60k/yr and if things go well, you could be at a little over 100k/yr by the end of third year. All of this with a consistent 40 hrs/wk (regular not billable).DaRascal wrote:I'm kinda hoping for a decent job $50k/year or so with a solid 30-40 hour workweek. What are some good ones you can get out of law school? Anyone know?
