Do Biglaw firms care about your politics?

I have heard that most NYC firms are overwhelmingly Liberal. I know that it certainly isn't the most important thing, but do law firms care about your politics? Would a Tea Party conservative be at a disadvantage? Also, do you guys know of any firms that are conservative?( or at least lean conservative)

No, but wouldn't firms know if I went to a conservative UG, and was active in campaigning for the GOP?

Just be normal in interviews and at work and don't talk about it and they'll surely overlook your time at Liberty and on Akin for Missouri. They just need cogs that fit.

How or why would people at work know your political views unless you affirmatively choose to discuss them?

I would never even consider Liberty. The academics are a joke. It might as well be a CC.

well if it wasn't either of those, regent, patrick henry or wheaton I don't think the average person would even realize that your UG was conservative

When did I ever say I was a brainiac? I am a conservative, fairly smart prep. If you really want my prediction on future president, I would say either Ted Cruz or Dr. Ben Carson. Maybe even Trump, but I don't think he's serious. ( Cruz would make Hillary look like a FOOL in debate)

That would be an example of something you shouldn't say in public and then you'll be fine.

To imagine how this sounds to normal people imagine if I said it's going to be either O'Malley or Sanders and I like Sanders because he'd humble Jeb Bush in a debate. Maybe it's true (it's not) but more importantly your best case scenario is no one cares and worst is they think you're an intolerable dunce.

The brianiac thing is a reference to another poster who supports the tea party.

It can be a very big deal if your firm handles work from the state or represents politicians — both can be very lucrative to the firm. I stay far away from expressing political views.

What do you mean when you say "imagine how that sounds to normal people" Are you saying I'm not a normal person? Also, do any of you know anything about Bancroft? I here it is one of the only conservative firms( it was started by a former member of the Bush administration)

P sure this guy is flame. This is the same guy who is currently applying to UG, trying to get HYS and a boost by going to PHC in UG. Just asking a bunch of random Qs (ie. "What are BigLaw cafeterias like") that are either gonna change or will have their answer when he actually gets to law school/career age.

No, no. There is/was a poster named brianiac. I think you guys would hit it off.

I'm not asking "random" questions. The reason I asked about cafeterias is because I have heard that the lifestyle in Biglaw sucks. I figure if I'm going to work 12 hours a day, I better get good food.

BYU isn't really an option for me.( as I'm a High Anglican, and the school is overwhelmingly Mormon) I would like to get your opinions on which firms have the WASP culture.
