What are the odds of getting a big law associate position if you don't land an SA at OCI? (excluding federal/state supreme clerkships) Also, what would be your odds if you struck out from bc/bu?

There is really no way to quantify it other than to say "Not good"

My best guess would be if you struck out because you under applied, or fucked up interviews but have good grades, try to get a clerkship. If you struck out because you have shitty grades, I guess network like crazy and keep mass mailing. Good luck

Keep doing this. It's only August, you haven't struck out yet.

Its not idiosyncratic. The people who hustle all the way up to summer are a lot more likely to snag something than the people who give up after oci. Although that doesn't mean they are likely to snag something.

most students from BC/BU will "strike out" at OCI (as in, not get a 2L SA), regardless of mass mailing, and very few of those that don't will enter biglaw through another route. You basically have to be in the top third (maybe a little below top third but definitely above median) of your class after 1L year to open up firm jobs, or get very lucky with a d. mass clerkship, which could position you to get a firm job after

"Struck out" hasn't even been quantified/defined here. It's kind of useless to speculate IMO.

In general, yeah, if you don't get a big firm job at OCI it'll be tough to get a big firm job
