Really awesome. Top 25 law school academically coupled with Top 25 bar scene. If you aren't dead set on practicing New York Big law (and we had a few last year go to NY big law), then its a great school.MCFC wrote:How awesome is it to go to Alabama?

Yes they are. And generally, the honors college people are just as competitive if not more so than people that took the LSAT.CanadianWolf wrote:Are Honors College grads still excused from taking the LSAT ?

"...honors college people are just as competitive if not more so than people [who] took the LSAT." Based on what ?
I am not trying to be negative; I believe that excusing Honors College grads from the LSAT is a significant benefit--especially when offered by such a strong regional law school. (In fact, I was the one who first put forth the suggestion that University Fellows graduates be assured of admission into The University of Alabama School of Law in 2007 when the first group of University Fellows was in the process of being admitted to UA.) Nevertheless, I do not understand the basis upon which you make your claim.

My own personal anecdotal evidence. I know who got in through honors, and I know how well they did in class. Maybe i'm missing something?CanadianWolf wrote:"...honors college people are just as competitive if not more so than people [who] took the LSAT." Based on what ?

Okay. I didn't know that you meant "competitive law students"; I thought that you meant "competitive law school applicants".

Granted I'm not much of a drinker but having been to Tuscaloosa briefly a couple of times, I'm skeptical of this.jaysnooginz wrote:Really awesome. It's not what you drink at the bar, it's what you get to look at when you are at the barstasg wrote:Granted I'm not much of a drinker but having been to Tuscaloosa briefly a couple of times, I'm skeptical of this.jaysnooginz wrote:Really awesome. I cannot speak to how attractive the men are, but the per capita attractiveness of the women in Tuscaloosa bars is pretty high.Nebby wrote:There are only attractive people in Tuscaloosa?jaysnooginz wrote:It's not what you drink at the bar, it's what you get to look at when you are at the barstasg wrote:Granted I'm not much of a drinker but having been to Tuscaloosa briefly a couple of times, I'm skeptical of this.jaysnooginz wrote:Really awesome. Are the small firms that the majority of grads get employed by from Alabama small firms that do divorce and stuff? Or are they boutiques that pay 80 grand a year?

Re: Recently Graduated Alabama Student Taking Q's
Most of the small firms are either defense oriented or plaintiff oriented litigation firms. Not too many focus on domestic relations nowadays. The defense oriented firms , of which there are quite a few, definitely pay a good bit.Louis1127 wrote:Are the small firms that the majority of grads get employed by from Alabama small firms that do divorce and stuff? What qualifies as good paying? 80K +?jaysnooginz wrote:Everyone I know got an attorney job. Most everyone in the top 40% got a good paying job. Hit or miss after that.GreekOmega12 wrote:How are the job prospects?

I have an uncle in Tuscaloosa. On $80K you're in great shape and you can afford to eat at Dreamland every night!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
