How do you balance academic and social life?

Realistically, how much of a life do you have outside of law school? I mean it's impossible to spend an entire semester commuting between law school and home so I just want to know what your experiences have been with being able go out and see friends and family while still keeping up with the workload.

It's cliche at this point, but I think the best thing is to treat law school like a full time job. Work a steady 40 hour a week. For instance, even when I only have one class from 11-12:30, I still start reading/reviewing at 8. If you just work steadily instead of constantly swinging between frantic effort and undergrad sloth, it's not hard to have your evenings and weekends relatively free to do whatever it is you want to do.

Plus the first half of the semester is generally chill, second half not so much, so it's really only like 2 months of grinding per semester it seems.

Quoting cliche for truth though I personally try to get work done on Sunday mornings too.

Get used to it. It doesn't get better after you graduate and your hangovers are worse.
