Take now or wait

I signed up for the Sept LSAT but I don't think I'm ready. But I don't know if I should wait until Dec to take it since it's late in the process and I know there will be less spots available. My cumm gpa is 3.58 but instead of having an upward trend, my gpa actually went down my last semester (I got a D in finance and that brought it down a lot). My gpa isn't terrible but I want to go to either nyu or bu and i'm in the 25percentile for them gpa wise. Do you think it's better to keep studying and do practice exams and then apply for December? or do the most I can now and just apply as early as possible? I also don't have much on my resume, only about half yr working at a law firm so I feel I should spend more time on my LSAT but again it's so late in the process.

Get a score, take time off and reapply next cycle if needed.

You need to get the highest score you can possibly get. Every point matters for scholarship money and for getting into better schools. And both scholarship money and the school you go to will have profound effects on the rest of your life.
Do not waste an LSAT attempt. Things can go wrong. You might end up needing all 3 takes. You don't want to blow one on a test when you're not ready. So wait. Wait until you do not believe you can get any better at the LSAT. Then take the test. And if your score isn't as good as your best practice tests then take it again. You should not rush this process if you aren't ready.

But won't my chances of getting into NYU be a lot slimmer if i wait?
