The end all, be all: backpack
I'm about to buy a backpack for law school. I had ordered a Hershel "Little America" bag and soon realized that they outsourced as soon as they got popular, thus making them cheap and unreliable past 6 months. My priorities are as follows:
Laptop compartment
Durable
Water resistant
Outside pockets for coffee tumblers/water bottles
Option to pack soup a plus

Because I am from Texas, and I imagine that I will need soup always due to the migration.BillPackets wrote:why soup?Pneumonia wrote: Option to pack soup

North face borealis fits your specs. I've had mine for 2 years and it looks brand new.
Protip: I got it almost for free because I found a broken north face at a garage sale, sent it in to get it fixed (they have a lifetime warranty), but they didn't make that specific backpack anymore so they sent me a gift card instead.

This is my woefully insufficient backpack I bought post-law school to carry around my fat stacks and signal to partners that I don't really give a shit.

North Face backpacks are the way to go. Could cost $100, but will last forever and be useful for more than just school.
Also, you could use the mesh nalgine pockets on the sides for soup cans, nagines, etc. I actually did this a bit.
I think I have something like this: http://www.the-house.com/nf5hec36agzg14 ... 7Aodz30Aaw Worked great

I have a totally baller Victorinox backpack but it's really not fitting everything I want: laptop + accessories, ipad, 3 binders, plus books so I've started using a gym bag.

Have this same NF Heckler. It lasted my final two years as an undergrad, several day hikes/camping trips and a 60 mile hike through the Appalachian Mountains this summer. After almost four years, the bag still looks almost brand new and none of the straps or compartments have frayed or torn. Highly recommend.Law Sauce wrote:North Face backpacks are the way to go.
