Canadian Student Going To T14 - US Books to Read

Hey Everyone!
I've been a lurker for quite some time. This site has been amazingly helpful through my law school journey and I'll be attending HYS this coming year. So thank you all for that!
As my title mentions, I'm a Canadian student. One thing I noticed when I started going to admitted student weekends was that my knowledge of the US political/legal system (not so much as it stands right now, but historically how it developed, etc.) is extremely lacking and that the topic seemed to come up quite a lot, especially in the mock classes I attended. I'm wondering if you all had any suggestions on if there are certain books or anything I could/should read so that I'm not totally lost when it comes to American history (or really, any other topics that you found to be pervasive) as it pertains to law school.
Thanks so much!
