Big Law Culture?

I understand that this is a broad question, but can anybody speak to the "culture" of your Big Law workplace? Do you see commonalities between your coworkers? What do you like or dislike?

Haha, yeah I've browsed those threads in the past. Fun and terrifying reads.
I'm more interested in the associate to associate level culture. Could you expand on that?

Um, you work together on stuff and sometimes hang out after work? I'm not sure what you're looking for with this thread.

The firm I'm at this summer has a pretty great culture (California offices). People still work a lot of hours, but they are all very friendly and collaborative. I really like the other summers, young associates and partners. PM if you want details.

Poe's Law at work: I can't tell if this is a legit statement or a parody of an SA.

I'm guessing he's being serious. I agree that being a summer associate doesn't give you a true picture of what it's like to be an attorney, but it's certainly possible to get a good idea of the firm's culture. Pay attention and read between the lines and, even as a summer associate, you can figure out a lot.
Counterpoint SA will be your best chance to figure out the firm's culture for yourself but you are still not getting a complete picture or anything close to it.
As for OP's question, it's like any other job as far as relationships between junior associates go. We work together on stuff and sometimes we go to a happy hour and make fun of/bitch about the partners. The midlevels who begin gunning hard for partnerships are the scum of the earth though.
