3l oci....hahahah

So our school has like literally 10 non IP firms coming to 3l oci. Does anyone get offers from biglaw as a 3l through mass mail/networking? I'm a rising 3l transfer at UT. Top 20% at new school, top 5% at old with a mid size firm SA this summer. Is it even worth attempting or should I just pray like hell I get an offer from the firm I am at?

Your best shot will be getting an offer at your current firm so focus on that.

If you'd be interested in other firms, then why not just do OCI to see? The odds are low but you have nothing to lose. Plus at least signing up for OCI is a smart thing to do just in case you don't get an offer (not that your odds at 3L OCI with a no-offer wouldn't be even worse, they would, but you should still at least try).

I got a number of offers through 3L mailing. If you look back through my post history, I've made a few substantive advice posts about the topic. One of these days I'm going to have to just bite the bullet and make a post so I don't have to keep making people comb through all the bullshit I've posted over the last year.

As a lazy 0L I would vote that you do this :D

Especially if it is UT specific like OP claimed.

It's not UT specific--it would be New York specific. Quite frankly, it'll be nearly impossible to get picked up as a 3L at anything other than the NY firms with the largest summer classes. Even a Texas office with an average class size will only be looking for one 3L hire, if that.
