Top Law Schools

I applied to some schools, got into a few and am still pending at others. But now I received a job offer, decided to take it, and might reapply to schools in a few years. Because I want to maintain a good reputation with these schools, I'm curious to know the proper procedure for withdrawing my apps.

To those still pending, should I wait for the decision or just tell them to stop considering me?
To those with which I've scheduled interviews, should I simply email them and cancel?
If I don't withdraw my app from some schools because I'm considering deferral, do I need to notify them about my new job?

Sorry if I'm making this too complicated, I just want to make sure to do everything right here.

Just send them an email telling them you're withdrawing. You might mention that you've decided to wait to go to law school. Or don't. They probably won't care. The same goes if you have an interview scheduled.

Re: schools you might defer from, wait to notify them until you're admitted and have scholarship info. Then broach the topic of deferring.

I’d withdraw from the ones with interviews. I’d let the others play out . . . especially if you have applied to highly ranked schools. Might as well see how much love they have to offer.

I would mention your reason in the email. Some schools will ask why.
