USPTO as Writer/Editor worth it?

I got no help from intelproplaw.com on this one.
Would it be worth accepting an offer from the USPTO for the MPEP Writer/Editor position, assuming a Patent Examiner position was not an option, but also assuming that a chemical industry position was? (all three positions in pursuit of a patent law career, in case that was not understood)
