I am not sure if anyone is interested since most are T14 oriented, but I would love to offer any advice. I've seen how bad summer employment opportunities are and how much your school and career services lies to you.

Transferring? What region are you in? Are your classmates stupid?

Did you receive a full scholarship to attend your LS?

I decided not to transfer, because I do have a full ride to go here. I am in the southeast in a pretty saturated market, but luckily I knew going in I was not aiming for a BigLaw job and didn't want all of the debt. We'll see how the decision pans out.
I wouldn't call them stupid, but the school is definitely not realistic. Career services came in during orientation talking about how they have placed people from Dallas to NYC to Atlanta and all this and that, when actually only a handful of 1Ls were able to find a summer internship. I would say >75% took summer classes, and the school was loving that and all the extra tuition.

What do you attribute your success to? What set you apart from the middle of the pack?
Obviously its some combo of luck, natural ability, and hard work. Regarding what is under one's control, what advice do you have for the class of 2016?

Honestly the best advice someone gave me was to not necessarily work the hardest, but work the smartest. For instance I knew people spending way too much time on briefing cases for complex cases and writing multiple page briefs. That is generally a waste of time. I would always read the case and brief it, but I would first read an online brief of the case so I knew what facts were important and what I should look out for when studying.
This has been stressed on here before, but remember you are also taking your professor as much as you are taking the class. Ask the professor what they want, take the professor hypo answers and get their feedback. Each professor will want different things and format, and write each exam for each professor. Too many people failed to do that and may have known the material but did not know how to take an exam.
