Organizing class notes

Is there a program that Mac users think is best for taking notes during class? During college I just used the "notebook" layout in Microsoft Word, but I'm debating buying Circus Ponies Notebook or OneNote. What do most law students use?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

I used Growly Notes and I thought it was pretty convenient.

I've also heard Evernote is a pretty decent application for that type of thing. I recently bought a MacBook so I'm also interested to see what others have to say.

I for some reason used evernote but come time to outline, word is much better (though it kinda sucks still

), and the copy/pasting between the two programs isn't great. So just do word dude and set your default save path to dropbox.

I'm hoping that Outline (
http://outline.ws/mac) has the editable version for mac by the beginning of the fall semester. Otherwise, I'll probably just use Word.

I'm planning on using Evernote, mostly because it backs up to a website that I can access from anywhere. And there's an iPhone app as well.

I used OneNote all throughout UG and for my current job. I love it, and TLS has some neat
tutorials showing all the stuff you can do with it in law school. It's included in the MS Office Suite package, which can be purchased pretty inexpensively at most universities with your student discount.

I'm really not sure why word gets a lot of hate here. it works fine for me..I don't really care if my notes appear to be in a virtual "notebook" or not.

I've read a lot of good things about OneNote. In everyone's opinion, is it worth installing Windows on my Mac just for that? Or is EverNote a sufficient substitute if used properly?

Evernote is incredible for so many things but its actually outline function sucks. It just has the ability to make ordered and unordered lists, like when you're using gmail with a modern browser. No robust multi-level lists like word. Apparently they need to keep it simple to maintain the incredible cross-platform and web-based compatibility that actually make the program useful.

I downloaded the free trial of Circus Ponies and loved it. They even sent me a 20% off (on top of the academic discount). It ended up being just over $30 total. I highly recommend it!
