How much do grades matter after your first job?

Do legal employers put a big emphasis on grades after an applicant has clerked for a year?

Do employers ask to see your grades 3 years out of law school? What about 5 or 10 years? Do employers ever stop asking to see your grades?

How much weight do employers put on grades in decisions to hire at these stages in your career?

Okay, maybe if I make this simpler I will get a response. How much do grades matter when you are applying to jobs after clerking for one year?

They absolutely matter for your post-clerkship employment search and everyone still asks for a transcript. Now, 5 years out, they will matter less, because your job opportunities will be more dependent on your networking/connections and/or a firm's need for your specific practice area.
