Search the Legal Employment subforum. There's some good threads where prosecutors walk you through a typical day and give out lots of other really helpful info.

Married to one. In her 2nd year as a prosecutor. Absolutely 9 to 5 job. Even gets away with leaving early sometimes. Very good benefits, including pension. Starting salary is low, but eligible for some federal programs that will pay down student loans. She is getting lots of live courtroom experience. Basically in court every single day for hearings, trials 1-3 times a week. Lots of time spent gathering evidence, issuing subpoenas, talking to police officers, etc. Promotions, and office in general, are somewhat political. Most prosecutor's offices tend to be conservative (Republican).

Moving forward, I believe her primary options are to keep going at her current prosecutor's office and try to get promotions, jump to another city/county/state agency, or go to defense work. Also a VERY good route to politics, and being a judge (multiple judges come out of her office every year).

PM me if you want.
