i'm at a school in dc, i want to see a scotus oral arg, and we're required to do so anyway. my question is: does one have to be there at 6am, or 4am, or 12am, in order to get in and see any oral arg? or only for the popular ones?

i don't really care about the topic of the arg, just that i get to see one, and it has the least negative impact on my sched. if i had my choice i'd go for the business cases anyway, not the prisoner freedom or gay marriage stuff

It totally depends on what cases are being heard that day. I waited in line for a few hours before argument to hear Heller, but on another day where it was some environmental stuff there wasn't much of a line. Pick a day where oral argument is some completely unsexy case and show up maybe an hour beforehand.
