Is parking routinely available in the commuter (blue) lot that is right by the Law School? If not where do students that drive to campus (with a commuter permit) park?

As a current Ann Arbor resident, I can deduce that as well. I'm not sure about the specific lot you're discussing, but finding parking downtown with a blue sticker is not difficult at all and I wouldn't worry about it.

There is no blue lot within two blocks of UMich Law. The nearest one (Thompson and Madison) fills up very quickly. However, you can easily meter-up in the pay-as-you-go lot next to the blue lot at Thompson and Madison.
